Brain injury patient 'wants to aid other survivors'

A brain injury patient has made it his mission to help other sufferers, it has been stated.

Blaise Evers was involved in a car accident 20 years ago which left him battling for life in a coma for six weeks, according to the Press-Enterprise.

After waking up, he had little memory and was faced with the task of rebuilding his mind from scratch, something he attempted to do while continuing his studies of ancient surgical procedures.

In the proceeding years he set up Replifacts, a non-profit body that brings art and science together in tribute to pre-Columbia Peru and its medical history.

Revealing plans for building a resource centre, Mr Evers told the news source: "I'm certain that with my insight and knowledge I could – and would - provide my community with an effective collaboration."

Another brain injury survivor that has recently been in the headlines is student Laurie McGinty.

After being struck down with viral encephalitis ten years ago, the 18-year-old has since hit the books at Glasgow Caledonian University, the East Kilbride News reported.
