A woman who suffered a brain injury after a car accident has talked of her ongoing recovery and regaining her independence.
Stephanie McCulloch sustained a serious brain injury that left in her in a coma for four months after she was thrown from the car in which she was travelling as a passenger, according to the Calgary Sun.
She has been successfully recovering from the brain injury for ten years with the help of the Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency (URSA) and spoke to the paper as part of URSA's Brain Injury Awareness month.
"I went to URSA to learn how to cook and how to do crafts again," she said.
"I had to learn how to think all over again. I see things in such a different manner now."
Meanwhile, the charity Momentum recently marked Brain Injury Week in the UK with an event to raise awareness of the condition.
Called 'Put Your Brain To Work', the event aimed at highlighting to employers the benefits of taking on someone with an acquired brain injury.
