A brain injury sufferer has claimed passengers have a responsibility to tell drivers to slow down.
Eight years ago, Garrett Doyle was involved in a crash that left him with a serious head trauma and a range of other ailments, including paralysis and a broken leg, the Independent relayed.
Still feeling the effects today, the former IT worker said he feels lucky to still be alive.
However, he has memory problems, does not expect to return to employment and struggles with day-to-day life to the point he is forever making lists to remind him of his duties.
Mr Doyle told the news source motorists have a "huge responsibility" to ensure the wellbeing of their passengers when it comes to speed.
"Could I have intervened? I don't know, but it's a question I have to answer every day," he said.
Another person recovering from a brain injury caused by a car crash is Israel Stratton.
His family told the Siuslaw News he is making great strides on the road to rehabilitation.
