A new branch of the brain injury charity Headway is being launched in north-east England.
On Tuesday (December 1st), Sunderland's Stadium of Light is to host a one-day conference called Improving Life after Brain Injury and it is here that Headway Wearside will be officially launched, the Shields Gazette reported.
A number of brain injury survivors will give talks at the conference, which will start at 09:45 GMT on how they have coped with life since they sustained their injuries.
Michael Brown, from West Park, South Shields, told the newspaper that since he sustained a brain injury his life has been "completely turned upside down".
"The support that Headway can offer to people like me and their families is invaluable," he added.
Headway, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has a number of local groups across the UK which aim to improve the lives of those with brain injuries. The groups offer rehabilitation programmes, carer support and aim to reduce the feeling of isolation many brain injured people feel.
