A woman has completed a course in community leadership skills and said it has helped in her recovery from a brain injury.
Patricia Lewis received accreditation from the Open College Network, having completed the five-month course, which was organised as part of the Creation Trust's Single Equality Scheme, news website 24.dash.com reported.
She also gained two credits at level two, which is equivalent to one GCSE.
Speaking to the website, the former librarian said: "I got everything I wanted from the course, and more than I'd bargained for.
"I suffered a brain injury a while back, and this has really helped to exercise my mind and improve my thought processes."
Many people who suffer brain injuries go on to make a dramatic, if not full recovery. Brain injury charity Headway awarded one such person at its recent awards ceremony in London. Thomas Birch, an ex-Royal Marine was awarded Achiever of the Year having learned to walk, talk and rebuild his life again after his accident.
