Brain injured children could benefit from Christmas shopping appeal

The Child Brain Injury Trust could, once again, benefit from the efforts of a charity that is trying to persuade Asda shoppers to buy a gift for a disadvantaged child while doing their Christmas shopping.

Charity Help an Oxfordshire Child recently changed its name to Have a Heart and, with Asda in Wheatley, is trying to persuade shoppers to be generous in the run up to Christmas, the Oxford Mail reported.

Home-Start Oxford will hand out the toys and gifts to families that need them most.

Speaking to the newspaper, TV presenter Toby Anstis said: "We owe a big thank you to Asda for supporting Have a Heart through the Asda toy appeal."

"This is a fantastic initiative and is exactly what Have a Heart is all about, giving back to the communities," he added.

Last year, the charity handed out grants totalling around £55,000 to groups including the Child Brain Injury Trust - a UK-wide charity offering support, information and training on childhood acquired brain injury, the newspaper reported.
