Medical negligence case study 3

Mrs Sharpe

Our client suffered a fracture of the lower leg. She immediately attended accident and emergency where the fracture was set in a plaster cast.

Over the following week, the level of pain she experienced in the leg increased. As a result, she attended accident and emergency for a second time. During this visit, the plaster cast was removed. It was discovered that the fracture had not been set in the correct position.

Our client underwent an operation to re-break the leg and pin the fracture into the correct position.

At the time our client was a mobile hairdresser. As a result of her injuries she was unable to work.

She immediately contacted us to see how we could be of assistance.

We collected detailed medical evidence, and consulted on both the treatment that was given to our client, and the skill of the doctor setting the initial fracture.

We secured immediate payments to ensure that our client's business survived for the eighteen months that she was unable to work. These payments also allowed an intensive course of physiotherapy in a private hospital environment to be obtained and undertaken.

We secured a substantial financial award for our client and she has now once again taken over the running of her successful business.
