The role of fragile histidine triad protein expression in pathogenesis of malignant pleural mesothelioma has been the focus of a study reported in the journal Pathology, in February 2008. Researchers investigated the relationship of fragile histidine triad (FHIT) and Ki-67 expression with clinicopathological variables of patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). The authors, Tutar and Kiyici, conclude that their results support the role of FHIT as a tumour suppressor gene in asbestos induced MPM. They write that there is no significant correlation between FHIT and cell proliferation marker expressions in malignant pleural mesothelioma. Therefore, they conclude, the loss of FHIT apparently does not interfere with tumour proliferation. This can be accepted as evidence for an early role of FHIT loss in carcinogenesis; however, in fulfillment of the scientific method, their results must be strengthened by further studies.

"In 1997 my husband was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. At this time we had bought a new house and were ready to retire. You were recommended to us as specialists in this area. Your expertise identified the source of my husband's exposure to the time he spent a ship fitter, and in addition your knowledge of what to do ensured that things moved quickly. The financial arrangements you put in place allowed us to pay off our credit cards and car loan. Our final payment ensured that we could pay off our mortgage. We cannot thank you enough."
