New cancer detection technology

InferMed Ltd, a provider of advanced software solutions for clinical research and practice, has been named the Entrepreneurial Company of the Year at the 2007 Frost and Sullivan awards.

InferMed was formed in 1999, as a spinout from the Imperial Cancer Research (now Cancer Research UK) Advanced Computational Laboratory, with the mission to commercialise highly advanced software technology developed for clinical research and practice.

Dr Robert Dunlop, Clinical Director for InferMed, said: "Continual advances in medical science are making the practice of medicine increasingly complex and extremely difficult for clinicians to keep up with current best practice. InferMed's mission is to provide the products to help discover the best treatments, and guide clinicians in making sure those treatments get to the patient. We want to help get the right treatment to the right patient at the right time."

InferMed's products have been used in clinical trials involving more than 85,000 patients worldwide. Current customers include Roche, Siemens, Organon, Cancer Research UK, the Medical Research Council, and the Institute of Cancer Research
